National Finals Rodeo

National Finals Rodeo captures the essence of the wild west in the form of rugged games that cowboys play.

The NFR is held each December in Las Vegas at the Thomas and Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The best cowboys from all over the country gather at one arena to ride, rope and hit the dirt to jam packed audience.

Both men's and women's rodeo events are performed here and the Thomas and Mack Center was recently expanded in order to provide more seats for the crowds. The event spans ten days in early December. Tickets are available through local ticket outlets, and through the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association at 101 Pro Rodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80919.
Preparations for the event begin well in advance. Horse riders from America and Canada undergo rigorous practice to qualify for this event. In all 15 competitions are held in each of professional Rodeo seven events―saddle bronc riding, bull riding, bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing.
The event is one of the most popular in the country. It may seem incredible but tickets for the event are sold out a year in advance. Its broadcast is watched by 13 million viewers.
