Surf Club

The Surf Club is steeped in sports. Founded in 1924, Surf Club is a traditional family club with a strong sporting history.

This club has given a boost to the careers of some of Australia's best sport stars such as Grant Kenny and father Hayden Kenny who was the first Australian Iron man Champion and is proud of the young talents of Kristy Munroe (Australian Ironwomen), Bianca Lee and the current president of Surf Lifesaving Australia Ron Rankin AM.

It was conceived by a group of young Woombye men in Mooloolaba SLSC, who were asked to form a Surf Club—a club with a difference.
Volunteers offered their weekends and services to build a 2.5 by 5 meter club house at a cost of . As the members were from Woombye the club adopted the Woombye Rugby League colors of a black stripe and gold background which symbolizes a black snake and the golden wattle. Recently Alex SLSC celebrated his 80th birthday with a number of photo albums depicting the history of the club. Food and drinks flowed while members nostalgically recalled old times.

The club has placed a strong focus on the up and coming Surf Lifesavers. The club is grateful to all those who have contributed with whatever they could selflessly for the evolution of the club.
