Way back in 1880 Commander's Palace had graced New Orleans and established a reputation for elegant and gracious dinning. Here in the Garden District, George W. Cable hosted the famous author Mark Twain; here Jefferson Davis spent the last days of his life. In 1880, Emile Commander established the only restaurant patronized by the distinguished neighborhood families. By 1900 Commander's Palace was attracting gourmets from all over the world.

It serves all the Creole- American dishes that made the place famous, such as turtle soup au sherry, jumbo lump crab cakes, Louisiana pecan- crusted gulf fish and seafood gumbo, plus lamb and veal chops, prime beef and daily specialties. The bananas Foster dessert is legendary among regulars, but you also can't go wrong with the Creole bread pudding soufflé with velvety bourbon whisky sauce.

The food is complimented by an excellent selection of beverages including a variety of beers and Bloody Mary's.
