Years ago, comedian Bob Saget made fun of Las Vegas's only zoo. He claimed it consisted of a dog which donned different animal masks. But since then there has been a sea change. Las Vegas zoo has evolved into Southern Nevada Zoological Botanical Park, one of the main attractions in south Nevada.

The zoo is a non profit facility featuring myriads of species of plants, animals, birds, primates and reptiles. It is home to Bali mynah birds, chimpanzees, eagles, ostriches, emus, talking parrots, wallabies, flamingos and many more. The zoo is located just 15 miles from the Las Vegas strip. It also contains children's petting zoo and botanical display of endangered cycads and rare bamboos and palms.

The Children's zoo at the Southern Nevada Zoological - Botanical Park exhibits an interesting variety of endangered cats as well as the last family of Barbary apes in the United States, chimpanzees, eagles, emus, flamingos, large exotic reptiles, ostriches and "every" species of venomous reptile native to Southern Nevada.
