The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada made a modest beginning in December 1992. Since then it has gone from strength to strength adding new dimensions to its service with the passing of time.
In 2004, the RTC added the first Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) line to its transit system and in October 2005, the Deuce double deck bus service began running on the famous Las Vegas Strip.
It is a regional government agency which is involved in providing various forms of transport to South Nevada. It is much more then a mere bus company.
In addition to operating the Citizens Area transit (CAT) bus system, the agency serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Clark County and is responsible for overseeing the distribution of federal funding for street and highway construction. What this means for the Southern Nevada community is an agency that provides for a multi- model transportation system while maintaining the quality of life that Southern Nevada have grown accustomed to enjoy.
Its goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation so that you reach your destination in time.
The entire system consists of 51 routes served by 365 vehicles, carrying nearly 150,000 passenger's everyday in the greater Las Vegas Valley. Service enhancements are completed regularly and new transit guides are issued twice each year.
